1. To raise the pH of sand or sandy soil, you need to add substances that are high pH, or alkaline, themselves. Adding lime to sand or soil that is on the acidic side will increase the pH and result in a basic or alkaline soil or sand mixture. This is best done only on recommendations from your soil test. Too much alkalinity can harm certain plants.

5. Jan 18,  · To make a long story short, we took a drive to view this finish and found it to be an acid burn finish. It had the appearance of old weathered concrete, where Mother Nature and time had eroded the top to create a light sand finish. It was gray in color, and the consistency of the sand appeared to be semi-spotty.
